– animated video clips for political education
Within the project WissensWerte, the german nonprofit organisation /e-politik.de/ e.V. publishes and distributes a series of innovative animated video clips for political education. Technically state of the art and didactically elaborated, the clips offer an exciting way to learn about politics.
The concept
Civic education is a cornerstone of any democratic political system. Only those people who are aware of political interrelations and are able to think politically can use their democratic rights in a responsible way. In an increasingly individualized and depoliticized society, the willingness to get informed about politics or even get engaged is declining rapidly. To be fair, this is in part due to the fact that political relations in a globalized world have become increasingly complex and confusing. At this point, we want to intervene by creating fresh and exciting opportunities to learn about political issues, how such issues are interrelated and who the key persons involved are.
What’s new with WissensWerte?
Much of the existing media for political education is not sufficiently customized to its target group. The way people view and consume media, gather and process information, form, articulate and discuss ideas are due for a rapid change. Such aspects are central to a product that wants to meet the target group. In order to increase the efficiency of political education, it is important to find an approach that fits to the everyday world of the target group. The WissensWerte project has a particular emphasis on the communicative, participatory and creative possibilities of Web 2.0.
Sharing the Clips
The clips are licensed as Creative Commons (share alike). Help us distribute the clips by sharing, posting, tweeting, liking, ranking and so on.
Financing
Usually, /e-politik.de/ e.V. is a volunteer-based organisation. However, the production and distribution of the videos is an enormous amount of work. Therefore we operate on outside funding. We have achieved funding from a variety of German foundations (please see below).
